Brenda Joyce Hammonds
Brenda Joyce Hammonds, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, gained her wings on Saturday, August 16, 2025 surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Brenda was a free-spirited, bright star in this often-difficult world and will be missed by so many friends and family members but especially her fur baby, Maverick. Although she will be missed dearly, we know the reunion she had with her mom, dad and baby sister Julie is what she had longed for.
Brenda was born August 1, 1956 in El Paso, Texas to Richard Harmon Hammonds and Joyce Hammonds-Bain. She was the second oldest of five children. She attended Mesquite High School, where she graduated in 1974. Brenda was married at the young age of 18 and began her adult life as a wife and mother, working briefly for The United States Postal Service.
Brenda’s life was a symphony of love, both for music and for her family. Brenda was a talented artist and lover of all things music. If there was a dance floor, she was on it. Brenda’s love for music began as a young child. She was a self-taught pianist. As a young adult, she loved to gather with other musician friends and have weekend jam sessions in her garage. She grew up a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, a passion that brought her immense joy throughout her life. She could be found on game days, cheering on the Cowboys with unwavering enthusiasm at the top of her lungs. But above all, Brenda was a true bingo enthusiast. She could often be found at Jupiter Bingo, with her lucky dabber in hand, ready to call “Bingo!” She found joy in the camaraderie of the game and the thrill of the win.
Brenda had an extraordinary gift for nurturing deep, lasting relationships with those around her, which led to a friendship with Melinda Perkins, who was just as kind and nurturing. Melinda opened her door to Brenda for the past two years, as her health started to decline, and made sure she was well taken care of. Melinda even made room for her sweet Maverick, who was always by her side, a loyal companion through thick and thin, and a source of boundless joy for Brenda.
Brenda is preceded in death by her oldest brother Rickey, her uncle Mike, her parents, and her baby sister Julie.
She is survived by her children who inherited her fiery spirit Alyssia Trimble and husband Michael, Jodie Hammonds, Randall Hammonds and wife Sherry; her grandchildren Tyler Trimble and wife Taylor, Dylan Trimble, Morgan Phelps and husband Jared, Megan Kocher and fiancé Trey, Jacob Harris, Alyssa Hammonds, Courtney Hammonds, and Addyson Hammonds; great-grandchildren Lillie, Colt, Ellie, Weston and Kyrie; her brother Randy Hammonds, sister Carrie Gron and husband Rene; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
