Vincent Monroe Calkins II
Vincent Monroe Calkins II was born in Jamestown, New York on January 12th, 1973, to Vincent M. Calkins and Brenda B. McElyea. He was the first of two children they would welcome into the world and their only son together.
Vincent was a well of boundless energy. He was always in motion be it sports as a child, skateboarding and even breakdancing as a teen. Vincent spent a many of his summers swimming, playing soccer and riding his bicycle to every corner of Garland, Texas to visit friends. This would later play into one of his many interests, saving and refurbishing bicycles.
Vincent was gifted with a talent for the mechanical and was never satisfied trying to fix just one thing or complete just one project. His range extended from motorcycle engines and home repair to woodworking. His hands like his mind, never stopped working and moving.
Vincent possessed a warm heart and this was expressed in his willingness to help others, even at cost of his time and energy. The phrase “ he would give you the shirt off his back” must have been created with Vinny in mind.
In addition to helping others, he had a great love for animals and as had seven dogs.
Vincent was welcomed into the Kindom of Heaven on June 16th, 2023. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Texas Medical City in Plano, Texas. He is survived by both of his parents Vincent M Calkins and Brenda B McElyea, his siblings Shannon M. Calkins, half brother Scott Eddy. Vincent’s qualities are well reflected by his unwavering wife Tobi Calkins, and his loving children Vincent M. Calkins III, Jillian M Calkins, Zachery R. Calkins, Kirsten A. Calkins; and countless others, who were blessed to have loved and known him.
Vincent is pain free now and he’s sharing his beautiful smile, charm, and love that he shared with us for so many years with those in heaven.
Vincent, you will be greatly missed. Until we meet again!
