Sharon Elaine Whitaker

Sharon Elaine Whitaker, born February 17, 1944, in
Picher, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at home on
December 8, 2025, in Mesquite, Tx, under the loving
care of her daughter, Terry, and son-in-law, Joe.

Sharon was the eldest of eight children, a role she
embraced with strength, compassion, and devotion.
She learned at an early age that hard work and selfreliance
were the keys to a life well lived. Her surviving
siblings fondly remember her generosity, as she began
working at an early age and ensured each of them
received something special at Christmas.

Sharon loved working with her hands and was a true “do-it-yourselfer.” Crafty, industrious, and creative, she was always ready to offer advice on home projects. She enjoyed sewing, interior and floral design. Along with her love for the beach, she also enjoyed camping and spending summers at the lake. An avid hunter and fisher, she was delighted in socializing at gun shows, where she spent years cooking and selling her own beef jerky.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie Myrl and Flo Bell Cox; brothers Johnnie and David Cox; and sisters Joy Gourd and Suzan Williams.

She is survived by her brother Tom Cox and sisters Vivian Vance and Trina Creekmore, who will continue to honor her memory with love.
She is also survived by her daughter, Terry, and husband Joe Causey; three grandchildren, Tosha Reed, Matthew Reed, and Devin Causey; and eight great-grandchildren, Maddox, Mackie, Paxton,
Mason, Prestyn, Holden, Parker, and Annabelle. Sharon’s greatest joy was found in her family, and her legacy of love will live on through each of them.

Throughout her life, Sharon was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She lived with grace and resilience, finding joy in both her family and her many passions. Her gentle spirit, wisdom,
and unwavering love touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

A private celebration of life will be held in Mesquite, Texas, where loved ones will gather to honor her remarkable journey and the love she shared so freely.

Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
