Christopher Grant Dunn

In loving memory of Chris Dunn, born on July 21, 1979, and departed from us on March 19, 2024. Chris’s essence – a heart of gold – illuminated the lives of those around him. His warmth, kindness, and unwavering love were cherished by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he may be physically absent, his spirit lives on in the countless memories he created and the love he shared. Rest peacefully, dear Chris, your legacy of love will forever be etched on our hearts.

Chris is survived by his father and stepmother, Kevin & Holly Dunn; mother, Jackie Dunn; siblings, Doug Dunn, Magan Donalson and Jay Hare; children, Madalynne, Calvin and Andrew; and a large loving extended family.

A small family memorial will be planned at a future date.

 What We Love About Chris

Chris had a huge heart. He loved his people, whoever they may be: family, friends, a homeless person who was hungry and needed a shower… his heart was open. Even during the times when he had so little, Chris was taking care of his people, doing silly little things to bring a laugh, giving special meaningful gifts, sharing what little resources he had to help someone in need. In his most recent occupation, Chris was  a caretaker in group homes for individuals with mental challenges, many of whom were homeless. He called them “my homeless guys” and he felt that it was his calling to provide the most basic and personal care with dignity for his guys.

Chris was also a life-long animal lover with a deep care for abandoned and at-risk street and shelter animals. He comforted and cared for any stray he came across. He volunteered at a local wildlife sanctuary, and he worked hard to maintain and beautify his family’s senior dog sanctuary and memorial gardens, caring for the shelter survivors and special needs dogs as if they were his own. He talked silly nonsense to them and made up special nicknames for his favorites. His favorite saying was, “You’re my favorite,” and then to another one, “And you’re my favorite,” and on and on. He would say that to every single one of the sanctuary animals.

 In Chris’s Memory

To honor Chris’s great love for at-risk animals, especially the dogs who had been under his care at the sanctuary, the family has designated Pound Pals Senior Dog Rescue for Memorial Gifts in Chris’s name. Pound Pals is a last-resort rescue group for senior and special-needs shelter dogs who are scheduled for euthanasia. These dogs had a very special place in Chris’s very big heart.
