Keith Turrell Pond

Keith Turrell Pond, age 79 of Detroit, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family June 17, 2023. Keith was born to Nile and Beatrice Pond on April 11, 1944.  Keith was proceeded in death by his parents and two brothers; Tommy and Bobby Pond.

Keith served in the Marine Corp and served two tours in Vietnam.

His hobby was working in his shop where he built bird houses as well as cutting boards and any type table the great grandchildren wanted, he loved working with wood materials.

Keith worked in the oil field many years but after he met Linda and they married his career changed. They drove truck as a team for 7 years. He continued driving until he retired in May 2018. During his driving career, he racked up many frequent flyer miles which gave free travel for many adventures.

 In April 2022, Keith went to work part-time at Carpenters Cabinet Shop for Paul Barnum in Detroit, TX. He worked there for exactly one year. He became ill in April 2023 and after being in the hospital and rehab he came home with Country Home Care which gave him excellent care.

There will be a memorial Service at New Haven Baptist Church where Keith is a member on Wednesday June 21,  2023 at 11am to be officiated by Brother Neal Seabarn.

Survivors include his wife Linda Pond of Detroit; 2 daughters Cassandra Rena McGuire of Arlington, TX and Kay Fryar and Husband Richard of Clarksville, TX.  Three grandchildren; Brandi Chesshire and husband Warren of Detroit, Victoria Lindsay of Lubbock and Scott Honeycutt of Arlington. Four great-grandchildren; Jayden, Carson & Emerson Chesshire of Detroit, TX and Hayden Honeycutt of Arlington Tx.

Three sisters Shirley Van Pelt and husband Jim, Monica Hauber & Jackie Dilday and husband Ray. Bother Don and wife Mary with numerous nieces and nephews.
