Edith Carol Shelton

Edith (Carol) Shelton, 91, passed away July 9, 2023 at Sophya’s Assisted Living in Mesquite, TX. She was born October 1931 in Chillicothe, Texas.

Carol graduated from Paris High School, then attended Paris Community College and Abilene Christian University. She graduated from East Texas State Teachers College in Commerce, TX. Carol was married to Kenneth C. Shelton for 58 years. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. Her career included working as an agent for the Red River County Extension Agency, a Dietician at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. She taught Special Education for 12 years at Detroit ISD, Detroit, TX.

Carol was predeceased by her parents, a sister and her husband. Kenneth and Carol had five children which she is survived by Suzanne Jackson (Scott), Barbara Vick (John), Lisa Beavers, Linda Smith (Ray), and Keith Shelton (Linda); 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, one brother and nieces and nephews.

Carol was laid to rest in Lone Star Cemetery, Clarksville, Texas next to her husband. Those who wish to remember Carol in a special way may make donations in her memory to Seagoville Church of Christ, 510 N. Kaufman St., Seagoville, TX 75159
