Chester Roy Snyder
70 Years Old Forney, Tx
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of our beloved Chester Roy Snyder, Jr. (RoyBoy). A Memorial Service will be held at The First Baptist Church in Forney, Texas on August 5th at 11:00 AM. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 6th at the Son’s of Herman Hall in Deep Ellum Dallas, Texas, at 2:00 PM at 3414 Elm Street.
On October 21, 1952, Chester Roy Snyder Jr. was born at the Florence Nightingale Hospital in Dallas, Texas. His mother, Rachel Snyder, passed away in 2007, and his father, Chester Roy Snyder, passed away in 1956.
He earned an honors degree in radio, television, and film from the University of Texas in Austin in 1975, and went to work for Showco upon graduation. The Forney newspaper once asked him why he went by Roy? He replied, “because Gunsmoke burned me out on the name Chester…Go Figure! Still, you can call me either or Snyder, just dont call me late to dinner. Later when Roy started working with Paul McCartney he was given his nick name RoyBoy.
He worked on several award-winning films, including Robo Cop, To Heal a Nation, Elvis and Me, and Honeysuckle Rose. He toured with many other entertainers, such as Paul McCartney, Wings, the Rolling Stones, Van Halen, and good ol’ Willie Nelson.
Later, returning to the entertainment industry, Roy volunteered at KNON 89.3 radio station, as part of The Texas Renegades. He was known as the Old Hippie, RoyBoy from Forney, Texas. It was the ideal creative outlet for him after many years of retirement and family responsibilities.
Aside from his great passion for the entertainment industry, he had a soft spot for animals, family, and friends. He was a devoted and faithful guy in people’s lives. If he wasn’t with his companion Liz Lyles and his beloved dog Hank, he enjoyed traveling, seeing new musicians at concerts, and catching up with old road pals and Forney friends.
Roy was a well-liked and respected man. He said what he said and meant what he meant.
Simply, in the words of RoyBoy, JUST BREATHE…Remember Kids, Tomorrow’s Not Promised So Tell The Ones You Love, You Love Them .. Till We Meet Again .. Happy Trails
